Howdy!

 

We are First Generation Aggies, or FGA, a new student organization that was established at the end of 2019. We are the very first student organization that's dedicated to catering to all first-generation students on campus. As first-generation Aggies ourselves, we know that being the first person in your family to go to college can be a struggle. As it turns out, the number one reason students at Texas A&M withdraw is because they feel like they don't belong. This is especially prevalent in Aggies who are first-generation. So, we hope to tackle that very issue as we believe that all students who are attending Texas A&M belong and deserve to be attending this institution. Therefore, we want to eliminate that barrier of uneasiness by bringing in alumni, and/or inspirational first-generation students, to share their experiences with the current student population. To showcase the different possibilities, possible achievements, bringing in helpful academic resources to display their services and, overall, create a community where they can find someone to relate too.
